The Baptist denomination offered Miguel and the boys the use of a church campground an hour from Santa Cruz. So, in June 1998, the home moved there with a total of 10 boys.
But a problem developed — every time the campground was rented to a larger group, the boys would have to move out. They would make do under tarps until the camp was free to use again.
Rather than providing the boys with a stable home, it gave them the message that they were second rate.
